The Keks Exposure Meter Digital EM-01 is a compact and smart clip-on exposure meter with a digital display. It is plugged into the camera's accessory shoe (hot shoe) and thus enables exposure measurement even on older analog cameras, which often do not have their own exposure meter are like the self-powered selenium light meters that were common in the past. The "typical" clip-on exposure meter for the Leica M cameras from 1956, the early Leicameter MC measures using such a selenium cell.
Other cameras use a mercury battery for measurement, which is no longer produced today for environmental reasons, such as the Leica CL or a Leica M5. Even the LeicaMeter MR, the "traditional" battery-operated clip-on exposure meter for the Leica M cameras, can no longer be operated properly without adjustment to the new battery type.
In these cases nowadays you can use your smartphone to measure light, there are good light meter apps for this. But the KEKS EM-01 impresses with its inconspicuous and coherent installation on many classic analog cameras. The light meter comes in a simple aluminum housing, weighs only 36g and is available in silver and black. Control is easily possible using 5 buttons, each with a clear pressure point, the values are clearly displayed with brightly lit digits in the OLED display against a black background. The plastic base is placed on the underside of the device with an Allen key and three small screws so that the exposure meter can be adapted to the respective camera.
