Leica M6
Analog photography with a Leica is trendy. How else could one explain the fact that in the last two years almost all Leica M6s on the market seemed to be sold out; even on eBay there are hardly any attractive pieces available anymore.
The classic shape of the Leica rangefinder cameras sets the standard Since 1954 with the Leica M3, the standards that are still continued today in the current, modern digital Leica M10 and Leica M11. The fully mechanical Leica M6 combines the traditional housing shape and camera technology with the convenience of electronic exposure measurement.
From 1984 to 1999, almost 175,000 of the analog Leica M6 were manufactured, and now it is returning - over 20 years later in 2022 a new edition as the Leica M6 10557. Leica has recognized the increased interest in analogue photography in recent years and has observed the price increases on the analogue camera market and has reacted accordingly:
With the Leica Classic Store in Wetzlar, the headquarters of Leica Camera AG In October 2020, Leica will begin buying and selling second-hand goods in conjunction with services provided by Leica Customer Care, the Leica factory customer service. In addition, a range of used Leica cameras and lenses (Pre-Owned Leica) will be made available in the Leica stores in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart. Leica is increasingly “interested” in its “classics” again instead of “just” exhibiting them in their factory museum as was the case recently.
Of course, we at fotohandel.de are also happy about every classic Leica M6 that we can currently offer. Through the technical revision, we receive values that usually come back on sale after many years of hibernation. Like this optically very well preserved Leica M6 from 1992, in which we have reworked the shutter sequence in particular, so that the long shutter speeds, especially the reference second, run evenly and harmoniously again.
