Streng genommen ist das Filterglas VOR dem Sensor von der Korrosion betroffen und nicht der eigentliche Sensor.

Ein weiteres Problem bei M9-Kameras ist der (teilweise) Ausfall des Sensors im Laufe der Zeit. Zunächst können sich "Dead Pixel" zeigen ("tote Pixel") , die sich als einzelne Fehlpunkte, oft auch als meist vertikale Linien im Bildergebnis zeigen.

Manche Sensoren der ersten Generation sind im "Ganzen" von Ausfallerscheinungen betroffen. Vor allem helle Bildbereiche zeigen lila Flächen ("purple curtain"). Hier kann der Sensor aus einer anderen, funktionierenden, aber z.B. weniger schönen Leica M9 eingebaut werden.
