Viele Kameras und Belichtungsmesser verwendeten früher die PX625 Batterien mit 1.35V Spannung. Diese waren quecksilberhaltig und werden aus Umweltschutz-Gründen nicht mehr angeboten. Alternativ können die aktuellen, quecksilberfreien 1.5V Batterien V625U verwendet werden. Die ansonsten erhältlichen Zink/Luftbatterien mit 1.3V bewähren sich nicht, diese haben schnellen Spannungsabfall und dadurch entstehen unzuverlässige Belichtungsmessungen.
Bei den meisten Kameras mit einem Belichtungsmesser mit Drehspulinstrument werden bei Verwendung von Batterien mit zu hoher Spannung (1.5V statt 1.35V) bis zu 3 Lichtwerte zu viel angezeigt. Kameras bzw. Belichtungsmesser lassen sich auf die 1.5V Batterie umjustieren , so daß die 1.5V Batterien trotz zu hoher Spannung nicht zu Fehlbelichtungen führen.
Dies betrifft z.B. die Leica M5, Leica CL, Rollei 35, Leicaflex, Minox und viele weitere Kameras und auch Belichtungsmesser wie den LeicaMeter MR, die diesen seinerzeit weit verbreiteten Batterietyp verwenden.
Eine einfachere Lösung für die Batterieprobleme ist der Kanto Camera MR-9 Batterie-Adapter. Der Adapter hat die gleiche Größe wie die Originalbatterie und verfügt über einen eingebauten Schaltkreis, um die Spannung einer aktuellen Batterie von 1.5V auf die einer Quecksilberbatterie von ca. 1.35V zu reduzieren - ohne die Kamera umzurüsten.
